As their photographer, I loved capturing Kasey and Lonnie’s Shipyard Beach Club wedding in Hilton Head, South Carolina. From the start, I instantly connected with Kasey—she’s a cheer coach, and as a former cheerleader of 15 years, I knew we’d have so much fun together! Their entire day reflected who they are as a couple: classy, coastal, and full of joy.
Getting ready on hilton head island
Kasey and Lonnie spent the morning in separate rental homes, both with beautiful Lowcountry views. Kasey got ready in a beachside home filled with natural light, while Lonnie and his groomsmen hung out at a house overlooking the golf course. The morning was relaxed but full of anticipation, and you could feel the excitement building for the celebration ahead.
Bridesmaids & Groomsmen Photos at Their Hilton Head Rentals
Before heading to the venue, we photographed the wedding party separately at the homes where Kasey and Lonnie were getting ready. It was the perfect way to start the day and capture all the excitement before the ceremony.
Kasey’s bridesmaids joined her at the beachside rental, which had soft natural light and gorgeous coastal views just steps away. Their black dresses paired beautifully with the coastal-inspired bouquets, featuring palm leaves and white florals. The beach created the perfect backdrop for a mix of elegant portraits and fun, candid group shots that really showed the connection between Kasey and her girls.
Meanwhile, Lonnie and his groomsmen took their portraits at the golf course rental home. The guys looked incredibly sharp in their black attire, and the greens of the course added the perfect pop of color. Their portraits ranged from classic, clean poses to more relaxed photos that captured Lonnie’s easygoing personality.
Photographing the wedding party separately allowed each group to shine in their own setting, and it added such a nice variety to the full gallery of their Shipyard Beach Club wedding.
A Coastal Ceremony at Shipyard Beach Club
The ceremony was originally planned for the back deck overlooking the ocean at Shipyard Beach Club, but Mother Nature had other ideas. With rain clouds rolling in, Kasey and Lonnie made the call to move the ceremony under the pergola. It ended up being such a sweet and intimate setup—guests could still watch from inside the club while staying dry.
And in the most perfect twist, as soon as they were pronounced husband and wife, the rain stopped! We headed out to the beach for portraits, and the timing could not have been better. The overcast sky created the dreamiest light, and Kasey and Lonnie were all smiles as they soaked in their first moments together as newlyweds.
Beach Wedding Party & Couples Portraits After the Ceremony
As soon as Kasey and Lonnie were pronounced husband and wife, the rain stopped — almost like the island knew it was time to celebrate. We headed straight out to the beach behind Shipyard Beach Club for portraits, and the timing could not have been more perfect. The soft, overcast sky gave us the dreamiest, even light, and the ocean breeze added that effortless coastal feel we all love.
We started with the full wedding party, and their classic black attire looked stunning against the neutral tones of the sand and sea. The palm-leaf florals popped beautifully, tying the entire coastal theme together. The group brought so much energy, laughter, and excitement, making it easy to capture both timeless portraits and fun, candid moments.
Afterward, I spent some time with just Kasey and Lonnie for their newlywed portraits. These two are so natural together — kind, down-to-earth, and completely in the moment. The beach gave us endless options: soft dunes, wide open shoreline, and a calm tide rolling in behind them. We captured everything from romantic, intimate shots to joyful, carefree moments that truly reflect who they are as a couple.
Beach portraits on the beach are always my favorite to capture!
elegant coatal details at a reception to remember
Their design choices were the perfect blend of modern and coastal. The wedding party wore classic black attire, which looked stunning against the neutral beach tones. Their florals incorporated palm leaves, white blooms, and coastal textures—elegant but relaxed. One of my favorite touches was how they used palm leaves as placemats at each reception table, adding a unique coastal flair that tied the entire theme together.
The reception at Shipyard Beach Club was full of energy from start to finish. Kasey and Lonnie are two of the kindest, most down-to-earth people, and their guests definitely knew how to celebrate them. The dance floor stayed packed all night long, and it was such a joy to capture so many genuine, candid moments. From the emotional first dances to the laughter and music, it was the perfect way to end a truly memorable day. Kasey and Lonnie decided to end their perfect day with a ribbon wand exit, it was adorable!

Kasey Shared This Sweet Review
love letter from kasey
"Morgan and her husband Josh with MDB Photography went above and beyond the role of photographers. They didn’t just capture our wedding, they helped our entire day flow smoothly and went above and beyond their role. Every photo is full of emotion and tells our story perfectly. They were organized, calming, and made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera. Thanks to them, we have the most beautiful, timeless memories to look back on. I truly can’t recommend them enough and can’t wait to work with Morgan again in the future. I cannot recommend them enough!"
